Inner light series
This series was inspired by a journey to the tropics, where I was struck by the overwhelming scale of the rainforest. Within it, a person feels small and can easily lose their sense of direction. The title Inner Light reflects my imagined vision of the secret nocturnal life of tropical plants and trees.
I imagine the forest after dark, when its enormous leaves begin a hidden life of their own, glowing like neon signs in the night. They seem to emit light from within, while the warm greens of daylight transform into cool blues, turquoise, violets, and pinks. This palette creates a sense of mystery and dreamlike unreality. The forest is not threatening; instead, it invites the viewer into its hidden world, drawing them in with its quiet glow.
The series is centered on an exploration of color and light. My aim is to immerse the viewer in an imagined world rooted in the observation of real nature. I chose oil painting because it allows me to capture the organic forms of the leaves while creating the illusion of an inner luminosity.
